Ezekiel Es’kia Mphahele 100 – An Incomparable Figure for All Horizons

The Johannesburg Institute for Advanced Study (JIAS) hosted Professor Ntongela Masilela last night, who delivered an engaging and provocative lecture on the centenary of Ezekiel Mphahlele. Masilela’s lecture attracted a capacity crowd, which passionately debated his arguments.

During the course of this year JIAS will also host centenary lectures on Peter Abrahams, Noni Jabavu and Sibusiso Nyembezi, all of whom were born in 1919 and contributed immensely to South Africa’s literary and cultural heritage.
