JIAS Music Encounters Series – Conversations with a Song – is proud to announce “Hip Hop as Healing” discussion and presentation by Emile YX? (SA), Lacouir Yancey aka B-boy Spirit (USA), and Dr. Roberto Rivera (USA), under the theme “Celebrating 50 Years of Hip Hop”.
Emile YX? is considered a pioneer of South African Hip Hop and is a founder member of the legendary South African Hip Hop Group, Black Noise. Best known for his activism, developmental work, community outreach projects through Heal the Hood Project.
Roberto Rivera, PhD, the co-founder connect of Alliance for the 7th Generation connects positive youth development to equity and equitable community development using culturally sustainable pedagogy.
Lacouir Yancey aka B-boy Spirit, the co-founder of The Black Poets Society, and TRUTHFORCHANGE, focuses on building integrated social, economic, health and wellness resources for young adults.
