On 12-14 December 2018, JIAS participated in the fourth Science Forum South Africa (SFSA), hosted by the South African Department of Science and Technology and held at the CSIR International ‘Convention Centre in Pretoria.

The JIAS team comprised Prof Peter Vale (Director), Dr Bongani Ngqulunga (Deputy Director), Reshmi Singh (Academic Manager), Emelia Kamena (Administrator), and Christian Bwankwana (Administrative Assistant). The JIAS booth attracted hundreds of academics, researchers, students and members of the public.

On 14 December, JIAS staged a panel discussion on the Future of Work. The session was chaired by Prof Saurabh Sinha, Deputy Vice Chancellor: Research and Internationalisation, and the panelists were Dr Beth Vale, Ross McEwan, Prof Balazs Gulyas, and Prof Joel Quirk. The panel discussion generated considerable interest, and was attended by 160 people.
