Showcasing and celebrating writing by women and about women

Founder & Festival Director Barbara Masekela
“As we celebrate the portentous advances of the women’s struggles globally let us also measure how each of us personally have made a contribution. We are the products of renowned giants like Albertina Sisulu, Manthathisi, Sally Motlana, Ruth Mompati, and many formidable heroes who are lost in the Forgetfulness of our colonial and apartheid histories.”

Our Commitment
As a festival, we have uncovered an important constituency of women between the ages of 18 and 60 who are thinkers, book lovers, and are passionate about women’s issues. They represent a small fraction of an even greater number of women who can play an important role of expanding the reading public and get thinking about issues that are germane to the expansion and enrichment of ourselves and our country in general.
